Few restaurants are actually truthful
when making the claim that they are “the best in North America,” but the French cuisine in Restaurant Dubrovnick in Winnipeg literally makes the grade. It is
one of only 47 restaurants in Canada with an Award of Excellence from the Distinguished Restaurants of North
America, a non-profit organization that recognizes restaurants with exquisite cuisine in Canada, the United
States, and Mexico.
Situated in a mansion
built in 1903 beside the Assiniboine River, the location used to be a trading ground for the Hudson Bay
Company. The early 20th century architecture provides a beautiful, traditional atmosphere that complements
the award-winning cuisine, and boasts famous past guests such as Queen Elizabeth II, Mother Theresa and
former US president Bill Clinton.
Some of their signature
dishes include the Chicken Dubrovnick, a chicken stuffed with rice and shrimp and served with shallot sauce,
and their natural bison filet which features parsnip puree, pomegranate reduction and roasted
figs.
If you’re a restaurant
aficionado looking for a fine dining location that is simply the best, Restaurant Dubrovnick should
definitely be at the top of the list.
