As the weather begins to perk
we can’t help but turn our attention to thoughts of spring. Off come those dark turtlenecks, our heavy coats
are relegated to back-of-the-closet duty and we’re finally free to whip out those bright colours and florals
we’re so fond of. We’re so quick to focus on adjusting our wardrobes to suit the weather that we often
overlook the biggest canvas we have access to: our homes!
Decorating for spring can be as simple as adding vases of fresh flowers, a bright throw for your couch, or
revamping with this year’s hottest colour trend: Yellow.
Often overlooked, yellow is an undeniably cheery colour that lends itself well to complimentary green accents
for a brighter palette and brown for a vintage effect. Incorporating this sunny shade into your home can be
done with simple bouquets. Think daisies, sunflowers and bright yellow roses.
Anthropologie, the boho-chic Mecca for fans of the fashionably vintage jumped onto the bright bandwagon with
an adorable arm chair certain to brighten up any library, bedroom or living room.
For those of you who have been longing for the opportunity for a bright redo, why not invest in an all-over
colour upgrade that will be sure to keep you feeling summery even during the dark Canadian winter. When using
yellow as the dominant colour, be sure to select a softer pastel.
