Bringing Spring Into Your Home
Does your home look dull and feel
stuffy? Maybe it’s time for you to take out the leftover winter atmosphere and embrace spring — it most
certainly has arrived! Here are six ways to welcome spring into your home this year:
1. Flowers. Whether it’s a bouquet of fresh flowers or pretty potted plants, nothing sings
spring like the addition of gorgeous flowers. They are the ultimate, ideal indicator that spring has arrived.
For your décor, they are the perfect accessory to liven up the house and bring in colour and a sweet
scent.
2. Paint. Dull looks can linger even though winter is wearing off. Your walls need a
pick-me-up and a fresh coat of paint will do the trick. Choose colours that emote energy and oomph like
yellows, ocean blues and bronzed greens. If you don’t decide to repaint with colours that pop, sticking with
neutral shades will still provide a clean and fresh look to any room.
3. The BBQ. There is absolutely nothing like the smell of food cooking on the
barbeque. It’s distinct and unmistakable. You sniff once and you’re automatically drawn to the grill as your
eyes grow and mouth waters — all craving those grilled bell peppers and chicken skewers. Before you actually
barbeque though, make sure you clean the barbeque’s internal racks, change the rocks and have plenty of
propane.
4. Windows. The winter stuffiness hasn’t gone away just yet inside your home but the
temperature outside is heating up. It is the perfect time to open your windows to help circulate some
much-needed fresh air. It’ll give the inside of your home that crisp, warm outdoor feeling that you’ve
patiently been craving.
5. Spring Cleaning. The feeling of dread from coming out of winter hibernation and having a
disorganized house is the worst. Spring cleaning for mostly all of us is essential because you need to make
sure you have the space to welcome spring. Clearing clutter from closets, drawers, garages and storage spaces
is essential. Sell, throw away or donate clothing and unwanted household items.
6. Linens. Say “nighty night” to your comforters and winter blankets and “hello!” to spring
sheets. Pack away the heavy bedding and replace them with lighter linens that also will brighten the
room.
