Lifestyle was on the star-studded red carpet of the Canada’s Walk of Fame
gala on Saturday, September 12, talking to current cover girl Kim Cattrall and other major celebs including
DSquared2, Howie Mandel, Daria Werbowy and Elisha Cuthbert (who graced the Spring ’09 cover of Lifestyle
Alberta).
Dan Caten of DSquared2 told us about how lovely Canadians are. “We’ll be
dancing in St. Tropez and a girl will come up to me a say, ‘I’m Canadian!’” Then Dean Caten interjects:
“Canadians are great people.”
We weren’t the only ones impressed with Dean and Dan. Host Anne Murray
extolled their virtues on the carpet, too. “My daughter says I should meet DSquared2. She thinks they’re
amazing.”
When it was our turn to chat to Howie Mandel, all we wanted was his
signature fist bump (the known germaphobe doesn’t take to hand-shaking very well). Not surprisingly, the
funny man twisted our requests of “We just want a bump,” into something salacious. “I just want a bump! When
I was a kid, no woman ever said that to me!”
Inductee Kim Cattrall offered her take on what her Sex and the
City character Samantha Jones would say
about the evening: “Walk of Fame? Walk of Shame, baby.”
While most on the carpet looked outstanding, there were a few obvious
highlights. DSquared2 wearing their own matching tuxedos and Cattrall in Dolce & Gabbana were flawless.
But who was the best dressed Canadian on the carpet? My fellow “red carpeteer” and fashion maven, Glynnis
Mapp, and I agreed that the prize goes to Oksana Werbowy — yep, the supermodel Daria’s sister — wearing an
incredible asymmetrical, above-the-knee, grey Marc Jacobs frock, rocking this season’s hottest trend, strong,
detailed shoulders. — Photos & text by Julia
