Giving your closet an eco-friendly makeover doesn’t have to mean sacrificing designer labels, especially when it comes to your favourite jeans. With several denim brands taking up the eco-friendly cause, finding a pair that makes you look great without the guilty conscience may be easier than you think.
Levi’s WaterLess jeans are the label’s newest venture into the world of sustainable-chic. An original participant of the movement with their organic cotton line, Capital E, the classic denim label has gone even further into eco-friendly fashion by producing a line of denim that consumes almost 50 litres less water during construction. Ranging in price from US$58 to $198, Levi’s makes eco-friendly jeans an easy option.
Premium denim label 7 For All Mankind, is another favourite that has taken the green challenge by creating 100 per cent organic cotton jeans in white for men. It takes a special — not to mention careful — kind of man to pull off a pair of white jeans, but with a selection produced from pesticide and fertilizer-free cotton, you can give it a try in good conscience.
If you’re as much for eco-friendly design as you are for time-enduring denim, Nudie Jeans have got you covered. Self-titled as “the naked truth about denim,” Nudie’s use 100 per cent organic cotton, with all procedures including spinning, dyeing and finishing, carried out according to ecological standards. Also famed for their raw denim, a pair of Nudie’s need not be washed as often, saving water consumption at home.
