Doors Get Fancy With “3-D” Designs

Here's an eye-popping idea if you're looking to jazz up your home in just a few minutes: Full-surface photo films for your door, featuring an array of deceptively realistic “3-D” designs.

Here's how it works: The "door billboards," from German company Style-Your-Door.com, can be affixed to any even-surfaced interior door with the included double-sided tape.  The thin, specialized films hold their shape and can be easily removed, according to the makers.  They come in the standard size of 1.2 m by 0.9 m, though they can be cut to any size.

But the most inventive part about these photo films – the array of motifs you can choose from.  If you're leaning more on the conservative side, there's the Gates category, which will transform your regular door into an old, rustic door, a set of double veranda doors and many more.

The other motifs will make you do a double-take about what’s really in the next room.  The categories include Vehicles (because who wouldn't want a sleek jet parked inside their home?), Animals (my personal favourite is the smiling white crocodile), Rooms (included are a picturesque beach and the Italian countryside) and the anything-goes Other (is that a strip club I see?).

Each photo film costs about $125 CDN, plus shipping.  However, a custom-made, personalized photo film will run you about $400 CDN, plus shipping.
