It’s a Friday afternoon and I’m browsing through lists of
movies currently out in theatres, as well as recently released DVD thrillers with graphics that’ll really
give my Blu-ray player the opportunity to stretch its legs. The only issue is that I’m finding it difficult
to get inspired. The state-of-the-art effects, the gasp-inducing explosions and (gruesomely) realistic
surgeries — I’m just not in the mood.
As I’m browsing, a list of the world’s 100 greatest movies catches my eye, filled with familiar titles such
as Breakfast at Tiffany and Casablanca. While I recognize the titles of the majority of
works listed, there are countless that (I’m ashamed to say) I’ve never seen! My movie dilemma quickly changes
course — where on earth do I start?
With a list, of course, and from the looks of it, the first of many:
Casablanca
My Fair Lady
Gone with the Wind
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Some Like it Hot
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Graduate
The classics above are only some of the amazing films that have shaped the face of our movie industry. I
encourage you to go online and make a list of your own to take with you on your next trip to Blockbuster.
