Attention furniture and houseware aficionados: Crate and Barrel is coming to western Canada.
The home furnishings retailer has announced it will open its second Canadian location in Calgary on Oct. 7. The 34,000-square-foot store will be located in Southcentre Mall and is expected to also offer the Crate and Barrel Gift Registry and Professional Designer Rewards programs.
“We are thrilled to open Crate and Barrel in Calgary – a dynamic and growing market,” Barbara Turf, CEO and president, said in a press statement. “Since our first store opened in 1962, our philosophy has been to enhance the lives and homes of our customers with modern and style-driven offerings while providing unparalleled quality and value.”
Founded in Chicago in 1962, Crate and Barrel debuted on the international scene with the opening of its Toronto store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in 2008. Further Canadian expansion is in the works.
Currently, there are 173 Crate and Barrel and CB2 stores — the latter a sister store geared toward young adults — across North America. – Eva Lam
